Writers face many challenges. One that might not be as well-known among readers is how we agonize over where our books fit in to the grand world of fiction. I’ve rarely met a writer who hasn’t at one point wondered what genre they should use to help readers connect with their works.
So, what do you do when you can’t find a genre that really fits your work? Why, you make up a new one, of course. And thus, the genre of Horrormance was born.
It’s that time of year again, when all my writer friends are having crazy fun getting started with NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). I always feel a pull to join them, and this year is no different. It’s also the same in that I’m in the middle of a big piece that I really need to finish.
Are you ready for my first Halloween treat for you this year? Prepare for the cover reveal for the first in my new Paranormal Romance series, Forbidden Knights. It’s filled to the brim with sexy werewolves, smoldering vampires (not literally…well, unless they’re one of the bad guys 😉 ), and absolutely terrifying fairies.
(Of course it’s after the bump 😉 ).
There is nothing like holding one of my books in my hands. The smooth texture of the paper, the scent of the ink, and the weight of all those words in tangible form gives me one of the strongest senses of joy and accomplishment I’ve ever experienced.
What’s making me happy this week: tying up loose ends (see what I did there? 😉 ).
Writing is a lot of fun, and I enjoy pretty much every part of creating a book and publishing it. It still feels really good to wrap up projects—and I’m wrapping up quite a few!
I’ve received the final edits for Entry Visa and will be formatting that and putting it up on Amazon this weekend (the official release date is Tuesday, July 25 <3 ). The next two novellas are written, so I’ll be polishing them and then sending them to my editor shortly (I’m keeping him busy!). And then all that’s left is to make the ebooks, a cover for number 7, maybe another print compilation…
Okay, it sounds like a lot, but compared to the actual writing, it’s not that much. Plus, I really enjoy making covers and formatting books (I think that last part makes me a little weird among the Indie community—I don’t know that I’ve heard anyone else say they like formatting).
After these are all wrapped up in neat little bows, I’m turning my attention to a brand new series! I’m really excited to get this one moving and have been sitting on it for a long time. You’ve probably seen me sharing snippets of it during #1lineWed on Twitter. I’ll have more to share about that soon, so stay tuned!
