Okay, it was actually on Sunday, but close enough! I published my very first Indie title, a short story called “Second Sight”, a year ago on March 26 😀 I’m going to have a surprise for you at the bottom of this post, so keep reading!
Originally, “Second Sight” had a comic book cover by the talented Matthew Blake to capture the superhero angle of the story. At it’s heart, though, “Second Sight” is a romance (like everything I write <3 ), so I recently gave it a new cover, which I adore.
“Second Sight” is the first of the Seconds series, set in a world with people being born with superpowers. The first generation was almost destroyed, so the second started doing the whole secret identity thing.
I have a lot of fun playing with form in these short stories, and write them in first person present POV. There are so many layers of meaning in them, too. “Second Sight” is about a woman named Andi who has the superpower of precognition (second sight). She fell in love at first sight with her girlfriend, Lesya, and finds out some things in this short story the makes her fall in love at second sight with her as well <3
The next short story in the series, “Second Skin”, is told from the POV of the main series villain, and we get to learn about who he is and how his powers work *shiver*. We also see how he and Andi met and fell in love back when they were in college and why he’s so fixated on her.
Here’s your surprise. To celebrate my Indieversary, I’ve set “Second Skin” as free till April 2! If you haven’t read it yet, now’s a great time to pick up a copy. Thanks for reading!
