Happy Veteran’s Day and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who serves.

My family started a tradition to observe this holiday a few years back. Our favorite coffee shop at the time had gift cards you could purchase on Veteran’s Day, and each card’s sale led to the company making a contribution.
We started buying a card, loading it up with as much as we could afford, and then handing it to the barista and asking them to use it to buy coffee for veterans for as long as it lasted. We figured out a good tip for the amount as well, and put that in their tip jar so they could say the tips were covered, too. We haven’t been able to do this for a while, but we’re hoping to start it back up once our area opens up more again.

It doesn’t take much to show how much we appreciate each other and how we all contribute to making our society work. A kind word, a cup of coffee, or even a smile can change someone’s day. This tradition of ours was part of how we say “Thank you” to those who have served.
When I found out about the charity that the Pets in Space® anthology supported, I wanted to be part of it even more. Hero-Dogs.org is doing such great work, and I’m grateful to be able to help by being part of this excellent anthology. I appreciate your help supporting them as well by purchasing your own copy of the anthology!
Today is the last day that your purchase will help out this charity, though, so be sure to get your copy now!
Do you have any Veteran’s Day traditions or stories? I’d love to hear about them in the comments below.
