To celebrate, I’m including an excerpt from Pack below the bump. I’ll also give you the list of all the characters who celebrate a birthday today in the Sci-fi, Urban Fantasy, Paranormal, “Horroromance” world of The Blades of Janus (it’s LONG!).

One of my favorite characters in my worlds is also pretty much the hardest to talk about. His existence is a big reveal for Pack. I know that book has been out for a long time, but I keep thinking of readers who are new to the series. Just in case that’s you and you don’t like spoilers…

“The Run” — Forbidden Knights 0.5

Surprise! I’m unveiling my new paranormal romance series TODAY in the form of a short story prelude for the first book 😀 My newsletter subscribers saw this sneak peek over the weekend and I’ve heard such wonderful feedback already <3

The series is called Forbidden Knights and follows a group of warriors who’ve been fighting the Fae for centuries—protecting humans from suffering losses like their own. To increase their ability to fight these magical beings, the Knights sacrificed their own humanity, becoming vampires and werewolves.

I’ve been working on Forbidden Knights for years and am so excited to bring you this prelude to the series! Continue reading ““The Run” — Forbidden Knights 0.5″

Welcome to Summer Park, Alexis!

Today, Dante and Elsa welcome their daughter, Alexis Lucerne, into the world of Summer Park. Dante is over the moon, and Elsa is absolutely determined to give her little girl the best possible childhood she can. And, of course, Winston is absolutely in love with the new family member 🙂

And just in time for Alexis entering the world, I figured out a bunch of her story!

Happy Birthday, Hiram!

Today in the alternate universe of Summer Park, Garrett and Rachel Wolfstrom’s first born turns one!

Whispering Hearts by Cassandra Chandler

I’m already seeing bits and pieces of what he’ll be like as an adult. He’s the quietest of the offspring from the first two books, though I think Alexis might have him beat in seriousness.

The twins won’t be arriving for a bit yet, so Hiram is enjoying the one-on-one time with his parents. Everyone’s households will be a lot noisier once Dylan and Dierdre arrive! He’s also getting closer with Alexis, who will be one of his closest friends throughout his life.

Not much of his story is coming through to me yet (Dierdre’s story is the one coming through the strongest so far), but I’m already looking forward to getting to know him and all the other protagonists in this series better 🙂

Happy first birthday, Hiram <3

Happy Birthday, Dante!

On this day two years ago, I posted birthday wishes for Dante, the hero of my first published novel, Wandering Soul. I gave my readers a peek into what his life was like before the events of that story (they took place starting on April 25).

Wandering Soul is about Elsa Sinclair, a time-traveling romance novelist who goes back in time and discovers Dante, the man behind the legend of The Phantom of the Opera. She brings him to modern times to save his life, and they fall in love.

Wandering Soul by Cassandra Chandler

I’ve always been obsessed with fascinated by The Phantom of the Opera story, and daydreamed endlessly about what it would be like if there was a regular person—a kind, intelligent, wonderful person—at the root of the legend, and he somehow found out about the stories that grew up from his life. When Wandering Soul found a home at Samhain Publishing, it was a dream come true. I was so happy that this would be the first story that I ever had published. Much of that was because Dante is so dear to me.

The Dwellers Database

Blades of Janus LogoThe Blades of Janus have many resources to help them combat the alien threats that have spread all over Earth. Rayguns, hoverbikes, silver-infused swords. One of their most important tools mentioned in Pack, the first novel set in this world, is the Dwellers Database.

This central repository of knowledge gives the Blades information, descriptions, and most importantly, countermeasures that could save their lives when going up against a new type of Dweller. Continue reading “The Dwellers Database”
