The Flower Moon in Full Bloom

So many projects are wrapping up right now, and they’ve bloomed wonderfully. I had a few things happen that I normally would worry about, but instead I paused, took a deep breath, and reminded myself to have faith in the universe. And so far, things are mostly working out 🙂

When I waste my energy on worrying, not only do I not have as many resources available to deal with things when they do go wrong, but when things go right (and they usually do) I’ve thrown away all that time that I could have been spending productively!

Mark Twain captured it best:

“I’ve lived through some terrible things in my life, some of which actually happened.”

There are still a bunch of irons in the fire as far as my projects go, but it’s much less overwhelming now that I’ve knocked out the big-ticket items. I’m revisiting that mantra of “This space reserved for writing” when I catch myself sliding down the rabbit hole of unproductive (or downright harmful) thoughts. It’s helping quite a bit.

If I want to think, “OMG, what if X happens?” thoughts, I’d much rather them be about fictional worlds that I can control 🙂 And then we all get more stories to enjoy! (Darren thinks he’s got it bad, but wait till he sees what I have in store for Miranda in the Forbidden Knights series >:D ).

The writing itself is going extremely well. I’m about 10k into book 10 of The Department of Homeworld Security. It’s called Coalition Reckoning, which breaks a bit from the type of plays on words that I’ve been using so far for my titles. It’s still a play on words, but if I explain it, that’s kind of spoilery 😉

A chunk of the book will actually be set on board the Coalition spaceship called the Reckoning, though! I’m really excited to write that part.

I’ve also finished my piece for the Pets in Space® 4 anthology! Like completely finished it 😀 My editors helped me polish it to a high sheen, and I can’t WAIT to share it with you. But I will. Until October 🙂 It’s actually book 11 in The Department of Homeworld Security, so I need to keep up my momentum with getting book 10 written and out there this July!

Writing the books out of order is quite a challenge, but also helpful in a way. I already know where book 10 needs to go. I just have to be sure I stick the landing!

pets in space 4 sampler phoneWhile you’re waiting for the Pets in Space® 4 anthology to come out, the authors involved (including me) have created a sampler for people who sign up for the Pets in Space® newsletter! The sampler includes several exclusive, brand-new short stories and some sample chapters.

My short story in the sampler is a meet-cute between the couple that I’m pretty sure will be featured in book 12 of The Department of Homeworld Security. You don’t want to miss it! I’m loving what I’ve read of the samplers so far and would love to chat with you all about the stories in the comments below 🙂

That reminds me—have you signed up for my newsletter yet? That’s another thing that’s been blooming during this lunar cycle. I’ve been revamping and rethinking it, and am really excited about where it’s going!

There’s tons of awesomeness coming your way. Don’t miss out on anything by signing up for these newsletters <3

Enjoy Spring!
