Happy Autumn Equinox 2019!

Happy Autumn Equinox!

It’s the first day of my favorite season, Fall! The nights will start getting longer, the days hopefully will be cooler, and the leaves will soon begin revealing their true vibrant shades (do you remember those science lessons about the green color of chlorophyll masking a tree’s true colors? 💖🍁).

Today, we get to enjoy a day of perfect balance, though. The night and the day are exactly the same length.

Back and Forth

Writing is an intense process that takes a lot of time and energy. It’s given me some of the greatest joys and greatest frustrations I’ve ever experienced.

One of the most challenging parts for me is the back and forth that happens at the beginning of pretty much every project. This is before the writing of words even begins—I’m talking before I’m even ready to make an outline. It’s the seemingly endless cycle of “what if” that can be both amazingly fun…and feel like flailing.

A Spectral Excerpt — “Wandering Soul”

For my final #SamhainShort, here’s an excerpt from the book that started it all, Wandering Soul.

This is a spectral short instead of a ghostly one because Elsa’s body is still alive—on another continent and over a century in the future. She’s using her psychic ability of astral projection for her soul to travel back in time. Dante is unaware of that, and thinks she’s an angel sent to take him to the afterlife. Instead, she’s planning to teleport him back with her to Florida in the year 2015.

Oh, and did I mention that in this story Dante is the man behind the legend of the Phantom of the Opera? 😀

Enjoy!

Multiple Perspectives

Lingering Touch by Cassandra ChandlerI have to admit, it was difficult to write Lingering Touch. I delved into some very dark places that I did not want to think about. There were scenes where I actually had to walk away from my keyboard, psyching myself up to write what came next.

And then there were the edits with my editor, the amazing Holly Atkinson, which were the most challenging to date. The end result is a powerful book that I am so proud of. The characters are strong, the plot filled with action. It has love, uncertainty, danger, and yes, even more alligators 🙂 Continue reading “Multiple Perspectives”
