The energy of the Full Wind Moon has certainly filled my sails the last two weeks.
The bonus piece is actually done! It came in at 19,705 words. The story is a prequel to the Cygnian 7 series that I felt compelled to write. I’m very glad I gave in to my muse’s demand, because I learned so much writing it!
I will warn you that the prequel is absolutely not a romance. There is no HEA or HFN (Happy Ever After or Happy For Now) in this ending. That’s making me really wonder—when is the best time for me to share it with my newsletter subscribers?
Wait, you’re not on my newsletter yet? You might want to fix that ASAP! 😉
Anyway, if I wait till all of the Cygnian 7 is published to send the prequel out, they’ll get to see the prequel’s main character get her HEA before I show them what happened to her that kind of sets a lot of wheels in motion. I’m hoping that if they read the prequel after they see her happy (of course she ends up with a Cygnian warrior), then maybe they won’t be as mad at me for what I put her through in the prequel 😉
On the other hand, if they really want to read the series in chronological order, then I should send the prequel to my newsletter peeps before they even read Nuar. Agh, what do I do? Let me know what you think in the comments. I could really use your insight. (And don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter so you don’t miss out on the fun!).
The other thing about the prequel—and this kinda has me in knots—is that I’m kind of in love with the villain 🤦♀️ At the very least, I’m infatuated with him. But he is not right for this heroine! Trust me on that.
Of course, that doesn’t mean there’s no chance for him to get a redemption arc at some point later on…
In the meantime, I’m diving back into the Cygnian 7 series properly, with edits on Nuar and Kral, and then writing full-tilt on the rest of the series. I’m hoping—really hoping—that I’ll have the series ready to start publishing in late October. That’s an incredibly aggressive deadline, given that I need to have all the first books written by then! But I have two down, and…five to go…
Yeah, I better get moving.
Thanks so much for coming along on the adventure with me!
